The story of COIM began with the meeting between Mario Buzzella and Cesare Zocchi, a technician and his client, who, united by their passion for chemistry, decided to create something new together.

The first great insight of the two founders was to venture into an unexplored area of the Italian chemical industry. Thanks to Buzzella's technical expertise and Zocchi's business knowledge, they received their first order for methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (KETANOX), a product that was very difficult to obtain in Italy. This order allowed them to found COIM and, within a few months, in October 1962, to establish the production site in Offanengo, in the province of Cremona.
