SUSTAINABILITY
INTRODUCTION
In recent years, sustainability has become a fundamental pillar of our Group’s strategy and operations. In an increasingly global context that is aware of environmental, social, and economic changes, we believe it is essential to do our part by contributing positively to the safeguarding of the planet and the local communities where we operate. This sustainability report covers the 2022-2023 period and aims to transparently present the current overall picture, the challenges faced, and our commitments for the future.

«COIM has always believed in the importance of preserving the economic and psychophysical well-being of employees, protecting the environment, promoting the development of local communities, and ensuring long-term business stability and continuity, guaranteeing the best possible product to our customers». Giuseppe Librandi CEO C.O.I.M Group
our goals
Our work is focused on defining concrete objectives and continuously improving our actions in terms of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy, both at the Group level and for each of our companies. A significant example of this commitment is the goal for COIM S.p.A. (Italy) to obtain 100% of its electricity from certified renewable sources by 2030, with 2025 set as the starting year for the transition and aligning the subsidiaries for future years. In 2022, we signed our dedicated energy management policy for COIM S.p.A. (Italy) and in 2024 for the entire Group, through which we have started to manage our energy consumption responsibly, improving cost-effectiveness, productivity, and reducing waste. We are introducing a software at COIM S.p.A. (Italy) that will allow us to collect real-time data on electricity consumption, categorize various departments, and identify those that are the most energy-consuming and impactful.
water usage
Regarding water usage in the company, we have proprietary wells that are used to operate cooling towers and for production processes. In both cases, the water is recovered and reused to prevent waste, following a circular economy approach. Water recovery and reuse are fundamental practices that are valued at our plants in Italy and some subsidiaries (see BS 2023, pages 66-67).

The continuous search for solutions to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is a priority for our Group. In 2023, we launched an ambitious three-year decarbonization project for the Offanengo site, in collaboration with a specialized company. The process was structured through site inspections, emissions analysis (including Scope 1 and 2, and in 2024, Scope 3, according to the GHG Protocol), and the assessment of the most energy-intensive processes, with the goal of identifying the best solutions to reduce energy consumption and the carbon footprint at the company level. We also developed a GHG Report for Offanengo, a document that monitors direct and indirect emissions. Additionally, in 2025, we plan to extend the calculation of Scope 3 emissions to the entire Group, starting with data from 2024, with a particular focus on categories that generate the greatest impacts, to determine the overall Carbon Footprint.
According to the GHG Protocol, a company’s emissions are divided into three scopes:

Direct emissions generated by the company, with sources owned or controlled by the company.

Indirect emissions generated by the energy purchased and consumed by the company.

Includes all other indirect emissions generated by the company’s value chain.

In 2023, in line with the goal set in the previous Sustainability Report, we joined the United Nations Global Compact, a voluntary initiative that promotes the adoption of universal sustainability principles to support the UN’s goals. Joining the Compact gives us the opportunity to stay updated on the latest sustainability developments, participate in working groups, workshops, and training courses, as well as share progress and initiatives, contributing to increasing transparency in sustainability-related activities.
The main goal of our Group is to align all subsidiaries with a sustainable vision, aiming to create a culture of sustainability and develop common objectives. To this end, another step has been to extend the key policies already implemented at COIM S.p.A. to other legal entities in 2024. An example of this is achieving the EcoVadis Gold Medal for COIM S.p.A. for three consecutive years, a recognition we aim to improve year by year and extend to all Group entities.
sustainable products
Regarding production, we continue to actively work on developing sustainable and high-quality products, through dedicated research teams for each of our product lines. As a Group, we are strongly focused on implementing solutions that promote greater sustainability, prioritizing the use of raw materials alternative to traditional synthetic ones, such as those from renewable (bio-based) sources and recycling, while maintaining the same quality. Furthermore, product safety is essential for our operations. Before purchasing raw materials, we require our suppliers to complete a questionnaire asking for extensive information, allowing us to conduct appropriate internal assessments.
Our commitment has been recognized with various awards. In 2023, for example, some of our products received the Remade in Italy certification for being made from recycled materials, ISCC PLUS at the Offanengo site (Italy) and in the US, OK Compost (Italy), Recyclass approval (Italy), ZDHC (Italy), UL Validated (US), OEKO-TEX® and ECO PASSPORT Certification (Spain).

people
The well-being of our employees is a core aspect of the Group’s policy. We are committed not only to ensuring respect for rights in all workplaces along the entire supply chain but also to placing people at the center of our activities. For us, business growth coincides with the improvement of our workers’ conditions.
Compared to 2022, the number of jobs increased by about 7%, with a particular focus on permanent contracts, which in 2023 represent 99%. This highlights the importance of establishing stable and trusting relationships to support the company’s growth, which now employs over 1,200 people worldwide.
In 2023, we also intensified our training offerings: in line with the goal of pursuing sustainable development, we organized training programs focused on topics such as climate change, energy management, circular economy, and sustainable sourcing. Looking forward, we aim to extend these courses, focused on ESG aspects, to other Group companies.
local communities
In 2022, we decided to implement a policy dedicated to social initiatives to support the communities in which we operate, focusing on their well-being and socio-economic development. As COIM S.p.A., we collaborate with public and private organizations to ensure:
• The right to education through targeted activities, such as providing scholarships to prevent school dropout;
• Access to artistic, sports, and cultural initiatives consistent with our values;
• Support for the development of building infrastructure and dignified living conditions for the local community;
• The proper response to social needs arising from distress or vulnerable situations;
• Sponsorship of local events aimed at helping, supporting, or improving the community.

Initiatives
Our initiatives, such as summer camps for children and young people or sports tournaments (football, tennis, volleyball), often involve the children of our employees, giving them the opportunity to engage in healthy sports. Sponsorship requests are evaluated and approved by our Board of Directors, which ensures the ethical integrity of the projects and prioritizes those with a socio-humanitarian aspect. For example, we pay particular attention to local associations supporting children with disabilities through hippotherapy or volunteers who help families manage the daily life of children with autism or other cognitive disorders. Similar consideration is given to amateur sports organizations promoting sport as a means of uniting children through football, tennis, and volleyball tournaments.
Once again, our intention is to align all Group entities with such policies.
